The HOLD FAST crab started in Mesa, AZ in 2005 with a co-worker's interest in the small piece of flash I just painted. I jokingly told him before we began the tattoo, that if I liked doing it, I would do it on someone else too. He smiled and said that it would be cool to keep doing them. The crab is a (quite) stylized Atlantic blue crab, like you would find in the seafood markets of East coast cities like my hometown of Washington D.C., and Richmond,VA, where my old friend had been stationed in the U.S. Navy. "HOLD FAST" is old nautical jargon that simply means hang on like hell. It comes from the Dutch word vaust, meaning tight. With the blessing of my now deceased friend, I happily share this by tattooing it on anyone who feels compelled to get it. The price is my standard rate of $140 per hour, and usually take about 1 hour or less. You don't have to be from the East coast.
